It’s been over three months since I last posted anything, becase I haven’t done much recently! So today, something different - a list of Tesla Model 3 Highland (2024) accessories.
No commentary and no links, since this isn’t really a recommendation post - instead, it is a record of my purchases. Many are OEM items ordered from China, which either have no brand names or many brand names - just buy the cheapest one that looks similar.
From most important to least:
- tempered glass screen protectors: one for the front and one for the back displays
- console and armrest storage trays [pictured]:
- two units for the frontmost console:a sliding top tray and bottom rubbery tray, not flocked
- for the armrest console: sits on the upper section of the armrest with a passthrough for USB cables - alas, this unit blocks the lamp and must be fully lifted out to access the lower section
- wireless game controller [pictured]: required for some games, but be warned: not all Bluetooth controllers work, and it is not possible to connect 2 controllers and a phone at the same time!
- this unit works: EasySMX Bayard 9124 BT 5.0 controller - except that the buttons are swapped [pictured],
- but this does not: EasySMX 9013 Pro controller with hall Trigger
- simultaneous micro SD (TF) and SD card reader [pictured]: a USB 3.0 reader that access both cards simultaneously, like the WavLink 2-in-1 card reader with dual connectors (annoyingly, I went through a Baseus and a Lexar RW300 that cannot use both slots simultaneously)
- a microSD card for Sentry mode and dash cam recordings: exFAT-formatted with the
TeslaCamfolder, and - a SD card to store music files: any cheap, slow SD card will do
- a microSD card for Sentry mode and dash cam recordings: exFAT-formatted with the
- high-endurance microSD card [pictured]: one designed for dash cams and surveillance IP cameras recording 24x7, like the Samsung PRO Endurance
- mud flaps / mud guards [pictured]: a must for white cars, especially for the rear - I prefer flexible rubber ones (alas, I also bought a set of hard ABS flaps)
- windscreen sunshade
- sunroof sunshade: anything that fits - and if you don’t like the black ones in the Tesla Shop, then try to find one that is properly colour-matched, unlike my 6-layer silver coated 2-piece set
- magnetic phone holder (Magsafe-compatible) [pictured] - comprises three parts each sold separately but have a compatible 17mm ball heads:
- a soft-silicon base module which slots into the air vent,
- an extension arm, and
- a magnetic head unit
- battery-powered air compressor: mine is a Xiaomi Portable Electric Air Compressor 2 tyre inflator - not too loud, well built, built-in battery, USB-C charging, and doubles as an LED flashlight - but it takes its time, get a bit warm, has a short hose, and the pastic connector valve needs to be screwed/unscrewed every single time it is used (I am aware the Fanntik X8 has many positive reviews, but that was too expensive for me)
- wire mesh air inlet cover [pictured] : snaps on to the grille above the frunk and prevents insects and leaves from getting into the air conditioning filter, super easy to install
- velcro air vent covers [pictured] : these go over the air conditioning vents under the front seats, a littlle awkward to position
- front bumper wire-mesh grille [pictured]: prevents stones and leaves from getting into the radiator
- charge port cap: to keep moisture out - I keep losing them because they are not tethered
- front seat rail plugs: these cover the exposed, possibly sharp rail - safer for shoeless back passengers
- a set of 4 jack pads: better safe than sorry if you ever need to jack your car - although the manual does not mention needing them, as long as you lift at the designated lift points
- floor mats
- trunk and frunk liners
